Who We Are

78 Acts of Witness brings together Art Forces, NoMüNoMü, and I Witness Silwan in a shared practice of art as resistance, remembrance, and collective action. Across movements, communities, and geographies, we use culture and public space to confront erasure, connect struggles, and create new possibilities for solidarity and liberation.

Art Forces formed in 2001 and moves from local to global, working from the streets of San Francisco Bay Area to Olympia Washington to refugee camps in Palestine and Lebanon. Through new-media projects, murals, exhibits, and events, we make visible histories and relationships that have been obliterated or forgotten. Our work connects struggles for social justice around issues of borders, precarity, migrations, and decolonization. We operate at the intersection of trauma, memory, creativity, resilience, and resistance to advance progressive social change. Our ultimate goal uses culture as an organizing tool to bring people together across movements.

NoMüNoMü is an intersectional arts collaborative working to challenge the perpetual systems of oppression within and beyond the art world. We work collaboratively with artists + grassroots organizations at the intersections of race, age, gender and orientation. We see collaboration in the arts as a means to challenge the status quo, specifically in informing movements of decolonization, resource sharing, and learning new ways of being within and through the field of art.

I Witness Silwan is a cultural resistance movement dedicated to amplifying the voices of Palestinians facing forced displacement in the Silwan neighborhood of occupied Jerusalem. Through public art and international solidarity, we transform walls into witnesses, creating visible, lasting memorials to communities under threat. This campaign was inspired by the Palestinian neighbors in Silwan who have spent decades fighting to remain on their land and have found power in uplifting their struggle and their continued existence (Sumud) through public murals across the neighborhood.
